We reviewed the latest paper published in an international journal.
In a recently published clinical study, the areas injected with hair follicle stem cells extracted from the patient's own hair follicles showed significantly greater improvement in hair thickness and growth ratio than the areas injected with normal saline. The effect appeared from about 1 month, increased the most at 3 months, and gradually decreased thereafter (still better than the control group at the 9-month point). The duration of the effect varies from person to person.
Hello.
This is Modi Hair Plant Clinic.
Those interested in hair follicle stem cell therapy most often ask one question.
"Is it really effective?"
In this article, rather than advertisements or personal experiences,
we will look at the actual effects based on the results of a clinical study recently published in an international journal.

How was this study conducted?

This study was conducted with a total of 50 male and female patients with hair loss.
To increase the reliability of the study, a Randomized Controlled Trial design was applied.
The experimental method is relatively simple.
One person's hair loss area was divided into left and right sides, and
- on one side, hair follicle stem cells harvested from the person's own occipital area
- on the other side, normal saline
were injected respectively.
In addition, the study was conducted with neither the patients nor the evaluators knowing which area received the stem cell injection (Double Blind).
Afterwards,
- 1 month
- 3 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
changes were observed with a dermoscope.
The study was conducted with all other hair loss treatments discontinued.

This is an important part of this study.
The participants did not use
- oral hair loss medication
- topical hair loss medication
- functional shampoo
- other hair loss treatments
during the study.
In other words,
it was a study designed to confirm only the effect of the hair follicle stem cells themselves.
Result ① When did the hair begin to improve?

According to the study results,
the areas injected with hair follicle stem cells
began to improve from 1 month.
Afterwards,
- the greatest improvement appeared at 3 months
- and although it decreased slightly over time,
- a better condition than the control group was maintained up to 9 months.
On the other hand,
in the areas injected with normal saline, hair loss continued to progress over time.
In other words,
hair follicle stem cell therapy was found not only to maintain the current hair, but also to have an effect of slowing the progression of hair loss.
Result ② The proportion of thick hairs increased.
Hair loss is not simply a condition in which the number of hairs decreases.
Its most notable characteristic is that thick hairs gradually become thinner.
In this study,
the proportion of thick hairs (terminal hair) increased significantly in the stem cell treatment group.
This is a result suggesting the possibility that the hair may recover to a healthier state.
Result ③ The thinner the hair, the greater the effect.

The study also analyzed the effect by hair thickness.
In particular,
- under 60㎛
- a tendency for greater effect in thinner hairs
the improvement was greater in hairs that had already become thin.
In other words,
this means that if the hair loss has not yet progressed to the point where the hair follicles are completely lost, there is a higher likelihood of expecting a treatment effect.
Result ④ Similar effects were shown in both men and women.

When men and women were analyzed separately,
there was no significant difference in the treatment effect.
In other words,
similar improvement was confirmed not only in male pattern hair loss but also in female pattern hair loss.
How long does the effect last?
In this study, with only a single injection, the proportion of thick hairs began to increase from 1 month after the injection, was greatest at 3 months, and gradually decreased thereafter.
However, even at the 9-month point, the condition was better than that of the saline control group (in which hair loss continued to progress).
The duration of the effect varies from person to person.
Modi Hair Plant's hair follicle stem cell therapy

Modi Hair Plant operates an in-clinic hair follicle stem cell research facility https://modihairplant.com/knowhow/stem-cell-lab, and
carries out treatment by isolating stem cells from the patient's own hair follicles.
In addition,
- autologous treatment using the patient's own hair follicles
- direct injection down to the deep layer where the hair roots are located
- treatment carried out while directly checking the condition of the stem cells
— through such processes, we perform more precise treatment.

In closing
Hair follicle stem cell therapy is a field that still requires more long-term research.
However, in the recently published clinical study,
✔ Increase in hair thickness
✔ Increase in the proportion of thick hairs
✔ Suppression of hair loss progression
✔ Similar effects in both men and women
— meaningful results such as these were confirmed.
With hair loss, the earlier it is managed before the hair follicles are completely lost, the higher the likelihood of treatment.
We recommend that you consult thoroughly with a specialist to see whether treatment suited to your current hair loss condition is possible.
