We reviewed this using a recent international academic journal paper.
In a recently published clinical study, areas injected with hair follicle stem cells extracted from the patient's own hair follicles showed significantly improved hair thickness and growth rate compared to areas injected with normal saline. The effect began at about 1 month, increased most at 3 months, and gradually decreased thereafter (still better than the control group even at the 9-month point). There are individual differences in how long the effect lasts.
Hello.
This is Modi Hair Plant Clinic.
The most common question from those interested in hair follicle stem cell treatment is a single one.
"Does it really work?"
In this article, rather than advertisements or personal experiences,
we will examine the actual effects based on clinical study results recently published in an international academic journal.

How was this study conducted?

This study was conducted on a total of 50 male and female hair loss patients.
To increase the reliability of the study, a Randomized Controlled Trial method was applied.
The experimental method is relatively simple.
One person's hair loss area was divided into left and right, and
- on one side, hair follicle stem cells harvested from the person's own occipital area
- on the other side, normal saline
were injected respectively.
In addition, it was conducted in a state where neither the patient nor the evaluator knew which area the stem cells were injected into (Double Blind).
Afterward,
- 1 month
- 3 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
changes were observed with a Dermoscope over these periods.
It was conducted while all other hair loss treatments were discontinued.

This is an important part of this study.
Participants did not use
- oral hair loss medication
- topical hair loss medication
- functional shampoo
- other hair loss treatments
.
In other words,
it was a study to confirm only the effect of the hair follicle stem cells themselves.
Result ① When did the hair start to improve?

As a result of the study,
the area injected with hair follicle stem cells
began to improve from 1 month.
Afterward,
- the greatest improvement effect appeared at 3 months
- and it decreased slightly over time, but
- it remained in a better state than the control group even up to 9 months.
On the other hand,
in the area injected with normal saline, hair loss continued to progress over time.
In other words,
hair follicle stem cell treatment was found not only to maintain the current hair but also to have an effect of slowing the progression of hair loss.
Result ② The proportion of thick hair increased.
Hair loss is not simply a condition in which the number of hairs decreases.
The most significant characteristic is that thick hair gradually becomes thinner.
In this study,
the proportion of thick hair (Terminal Hair) increased significantly in the stem cell treatment group.
This is a result showing the possibility that hair may recover to a healthier state.
Result ③ The thinner the hair, the greater the effect.

The study also analyzed the effect by hair thickness.
In particular,
- under 60㎛
- a tendency for greater effect the thinner the hair
the improvement effect appeared even greater in hair that had already become thinner.
In other words,
it means that if hair loss has not worsened to the point where the hair follicle is completely lost, there is a higher possibility of expecting a treatment effect.
Result ④ Both men and women showed similar effects.

As a result of analyzing men and women separately,
there was no significant difference in treatment effect.
In other words,
a similar improvement effect was confirmed not only in male-pattern hair loss but also in female-pattern hair loss.
How long does the effect last?
In this study, with just a single injection, the proportion of thick hair began to increase from 1 month after the injection, was greatest at 3 months, and gradually decreased thereafter.
However, even at the 9-month point, it was in a better state than the saline control group (in which hair loss continued to progress).
There are individual differences in how long the effect lasts.
Modi Hair Plant's hair follicle stem cell treatment

Modi Hair Plant operates an in-house hair follicle stem cell research facility https://modihairplant.com/knowhow/stem-cell-lab,
and performs treatment by isolating stem cells from the patient's own hair follicles.
In addition,
- autologous treatment using the patient's own hair follicles
- direct injection down to the deep layer where the hair roots are located
- proceeding with treatment while directly checking the condition of the stem cells
through these processes, we perform more precise treatment.

Conclusion
Hair follicle stem cell treatment is a field that still requires more long-term research.
However, in a recently published clinical study,
✔ Increase in hair thickness
✔ Increase in the proportion of thick hair
✔ Suppression of hair loss progression
✔ Similar effects in both men and women
meaningful results such as these were confirmed.
For hair loss, the more it is managed before the hair follicle is completely lost, the higher the possibility of treatment.
We recommend consulting thoroughly with a specialist about whether treatment suited to your current hair loss condition is possible.
