Why we keep a lab inside the clinic
Hair transplantation and hair loss treatment are fields where large-scale clinical trials are realistically difficult. That is why Modi Hair Plant keeps a lab inside the clinic, verifies established life-science evidence directly in the lab, and then applies it to patients. Rather than waiting a year after grafting, we confirm with our own eyes that the follicles are alive before we operate.

What is a hair follicle stem cell
Stem cells are the origin cells that create the body's various tissues. The reason hair grows back in the same spot even after it is pulled out is that the stem cells which form the follicle remain at the root and keep dividing.
Hair loss is a state in which the number and activity of these hair follicle stem cells have declined. Even on the same scalp, the back of the head and the beard area stay healthy, while the crown and the M-shaped areas show a clear decline in the number and activity of stem cells. Because of this, moving stem cells from the healthy back of the head to areas where hair loss has progressed can be expected to bring improvement, and it is safe because it uses the patient's own cells.
FOLLICLE PRESERVATION
The completion of a hair transplant is decided by 'storage'
A hair transplant is a surgery that harvests follicles from the back of the head and repositions them to the areas that need them. During this time the follicles stay outside the body for a while, and how they are stored during this period shapes the environment for graft survival. The 2023 international consensus of hair transplant specialists worldwide recommends that, when out-of-body storage exceeds 6-8 hours, the follicles be cooled to 2-8℃ and stored in an 'intracellular solution'.

Whether the surgery takes 30 minutes or an hour, Modi Hair Plant makes it a rule to set the temperature with a dedicated cooler regardless of time and to store the follicles in an intracellular solution (Custodiol). Because only one company imports it in Korea, it is a solution that not many clinics use, and we shared this storage method as an academic presentation at the KSHRS (Korean Society of Hair Restoration Surgery).
OUR EVIDENCE
We confirmed through our own experiment that 'solution matters more than time'
If the surgery finishes within 4 hours, is an expensive solution really necessary? We verified this question directly in the lab. We stored follicles in saline and in Custodiol (HTK) for 4, 8, and 12 hours, and compared the living cells with immunofluorescence staining. Green is living cells, and red is the cell nuclei.

Even 8 hours of storage is better preserved than 4 hours in saline.
The stronger the green, the more it signals that the follicle is being properly preserved. More than a fast transplant, keeping follicles well preserved in an appropriate solution matters more for graft survival.
STEM CELL THERAPY
We revive stem cells from follicles that would be discarded
A hair transplant only moves follicles; it cannot increase the total number of hairs. Hair follicle stem cell therapy complements this limitation. Even among the harvested follicles, the 'imperfect follicles' that are not suitable for transplantation still have living stem cells. Rather than simply grinding them up to use, Modi Hair Plant has a specialist researcher isolate only the stem cells at the research center inside the clinic, inspect their condition under a microscope, and then inject them into the patient's own scalp.
