Effects of Hair Follicle Stem Cell Hair Loss Treatment and Points to Note

Hair repeatedly grows and falls out as it passes through the anagen (growth), catagen (regression), and telogen (resting) phases. Hair loss therefore occurs when abnormalities arise in the hair growth cycle due to hormones, stress, nutritional deficiency, and other factors.

The hair follicle, the root of the hair, receives nutrients from the dermal papilla and grows the hair. If the follicles do not properly produce hair or if many follicles are in a resting state, the hair becomes sparse or thin.

In other words, the condition of the hair follicles is very important in hair loss. Recently, hair follicle stem cell treatment, a method of restoring follicles to a healthy state using stem cells, has emerged and is drawing attention. We spoke with Yoo Hwa-jung, Representative Director of Modi Hair Plant [photo], about the effects of hair follicle stem cell treatment and the points to note.

Q. What is hair follicle stem cell treatment?
A. Hair follicle stem cells are the cells that enable hair to grow continuously. If the number of viable hair follicle stem cells decreases or their activity declines, healthy hair cannot be produced normally. This method restores atrophied follicles by injecting healthy stem cells.

Q. What effects can be expected from the treatment?
A. It helps increase the number of hairs in the area of hair loss and make them thicker. The hair growth effect is generally maintained for about 1 to 2 years.

Q. Is there anything to check before treatment?
A. You should confirm which ingredients are injected and where. Even with stem cell treatment for hair loss, there are many cases where it is difficult to penetrate deep into the follicle, or where stem cells taken from other areas fail to survive in the follicle. For the effect to appear properly, stem cells extracted directly from one's own hair follicles must be administered deep into the follicle area.
