Director Hwajung Yoo of Modi Hair Plant Clinic received the Best Presentation Award at the Korean Society of Hair Restoration Surgery on May 11, 2025,
for her presentation titled ‘A Review of Graft Holding Solution Used in Hari Restoration Surgery’.
In non-incision hair transplant surgery, the longer hair follicles remain outside the body,
the more the choice of preservation solution affects follicle survival rates.
Director Yoo compared and analyzed various preservation solutions currently used in clinical practice,
and presented findings that scientifically examined which solution is most effective under which conditions.
The study found that while commonly used normal saline provides a minimal level of preservation,
when surgery takes longer or follicles are stored outside the body for extended periods,
more specialized preservation solutions showed clearly higher survival rates.
The study presented an important standard: by selecting the most suitable preservation solution according to the time follicles spend outside the body,
healthier follicles, higher graft survival rates, and more natural results can be achieved.
