Surge in Hair Loss Patients in Their 20s–30s: Why Non-Incision Hair Transplant Is Drawing Attention

The number of younger hair loss patients in their 20s and 30s has been increasing recently. In addition to genetics, factors such as poor lifestyle habits, excessive stress, and insufficient nutritional intake combine, causing hair loss to be experienced at an early stage. In particular, among younger hair loss patients, unfortunate cases of missing the right timing for treatment are common. Due to a lack of time or excessive reliance on folk remedies, treatment is not received in a timely manner, worsening the condition.

In modern society where appearance is valued, hair loss is considered one of the worst sources of complexes. In particular, hair loss is a factor that reduces attractiveness to the opposite sex and acts as a point that contributes to a prematurely aged appearance.

It should also be noted that hair loss appears differently depending on gender. Male-pattern hair loss takes the form of the crown area together with the forehead area gradually widening. On the other hand, in women, hair loss appears later and is not easy to notice because of long hair. Also, hair does not fall out intensively in one area but sheds sparsely, making it not easily noticeable. In the case of female hair loss, as time passes, hair becomes thinner and the number decreases, showing a pattern of the scalp gradually becoming sparse.

The point to keep in mind is that, regardless of gender, hair loss is a progressive condition, so it is important to detect and treat it early. If the condition has already worsened to the point where a large amount of hair has fallen out, hair transplant should be considered.

Hair transplant is broadly divided into incision and non-incision types. Incision hair transplant refers to a method of removing a certain area of the scalp at the back of the head by incision and then implanting the hair follicles. Large-volume transplantation is possible, and it has the strength of being suitable for procedures over wide areas and of providing natural prediction of hair growth direction because the surgery is performed with the hair length long.

Non-incision hair transplant is a treatment principle in which the hair at the back of the head is half-shaved and then extracted individually by hair follicle unit. Because the follicles are extracted one by one without scalp incision, the burden regarding pain, scarring, and aftereffects can be reduced, which is an advantage. In addition, since the hair roots are harvested and transplanted by follicle unit without incising the back of the head, no surgical marks remain. Also, since a return to daily life is possible right on the day of surgery, it is effective for office workers pressed for time.

The key is the survival rate. This is because even if hair located at the back of the head is moved and implanted, hair loss can recur at any time. Therefore, during hair transplant, it is essential to conduct a thorough diagnosis in advance regarding how stably the hair can take root and settle into the tissue of the relevant area.

However, since the survival rate of hair transplant is proportional to the know-how of the doctor in charge, it is advisable to check thoroughly in advance when choosing a hospital; in addition, when using a patented clipper exclusively for non-incision, non-shaving procedures, results of natural non-incision hair transplant effects and improved survival rate can be expected.
